The Whale Experience:
An exhilarating two hour voyage to discover Walker bay’s wonderful wildlife, stunning coastline and famous whales. Depending on conditions and recent sightings, you could find yourself exploring the coast towards De Plaat or the sandy beaches of Hawston, in search of the stars of the whale watching trip – Southern Right Whales. On the way to our whale watching area we regularly encounter two different whale species inhabiting these waters, Humpback and Bryde’s whales. Each trip is different, which makes the experience even more exciting! ! When we set out from the harbour we never know exactly what kind of whales wait for us out at sea on that particular day.
Return to Land:
You can enjoy the boat ride and magnificent landscapes while summing up the experiences of the trip with our friendly guides.
Because we are dealing with wild animals, it might happen, especially in the beginning of season, that there were no sightings. In a case of no sightings we offer you the option to join us on another trip free of charge.
Whale Watching with Hermanus Whale Watchers
Nice and friendly team. Unfortunately, we did not see any whale, it was late in the season. But this is wildlife... - Cyprien Conier
We were deeply disappointed by the fact that "Hermanus Whale Watchers" do their tour on November 28, 2022 although they know (and we learnt later) that the last Southern Right Whales of this season left the bay three days ago. So they rushed with our group to the other side of the bay, where they pointed us out some caves from far and rushed back as quickly as we came in order to be back in time for the next group. No whales, no dolphins and not even slowing down for the few seals we spotted on the way. Of course you cannot predict nature. But the guide of Hermanus Whale Watchers mentioned himself in the introduction that when the whales left for the Antarctica they wouldn't come back until next season. Still letting pay dozens of guests for a tour that definitely cannot be successful is kind of a rip off, isn't it? - Manuel Zimmermann
Great trip, late in the season but we still saw a mum and baby Right whale + special treat of dolphins too. - MR ALEXANDER T HAMMOND
What a great experience. Late in the season trying to find some whales, and after two hours of searching when we already went back to the harbour they spotted one, turned the boat around back towards the open water to watch this beautiful whale. - E Markerink
Great experience and a very friendly team who is always there trying to give you the best time - had a couple of great sightings - Claudia Erben
